Community mentors

An internship follows a master — the contract exists only once a mentor accepts you

The most important sentence in this system is: an internship follows a master. Positions are not issued to headcount, they are issued to a specific mentor; without a mentor willing to pick you, the contract does not exist.

What mentors do is concrete: define the position's tasks, review progress each week, open the first door for you in an upstream community, and write one sentence each month on the "externally visible delivery list" about what that month was worth. That is why most of them are upstream maintainers themselves — you have to stand in that position before you can bring someone up to it.

The list is filled in over time. If you have mentored interns at PLCT Lab, Project Jiachen or a member organisation, write to us and we will add your entry.
