19 nodes git can point to

Every entry below carries evidence where possible: a commit hash, a filename, or an announcement. Colour marks whether it belongs to the repository itself, an organisational change, the training programme or a specific person — these four have never moved at the same rhythm: the repository changes all the time, organisations occasionally break, the programme slowly thickens, and people arrive and leave in batches.

First commit

b558384 "Initial commit", followed by "Initial Home page" and "Created _Sidebar" — at that point it was still a GitHub wiki, not a recruitment page.

2017
A library for the robotics era

254 commits in one year, the peak of the repository's history. The content was all robotics, AI and ROS: MACE, GluonCV, opencv.js, YOLO-in-Android, TensorRT, PocketSphinx speech recognition, deep-learning model compression. The coding-conventions directory was called droid_coding_norm.

2018-2019
The first batch of intern reviews

Full-length internship reports begin to appear: speech synthesis integrated on Android, interaction between a ROS server and an Android client, ScanNet data, CNNdroid deployment. Today's "externally visible delivery" system began as these reports.

PLCT Lab is founded

The Programming Language and Compilation Technology Laboratory (PLCT) was founded at the Institute of Software, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The repository gradually became PLCT's official recruitment page, and plct-interns.md appeared.

First public version of the LV0–LV5 capability grading

Borrowing the "espers" setting of Tokiwadai Middle School, it split interns into six levels from LV0 to LV5, assessed by the lead as a "benevolent dictator".

The LV3 entry bar becomes "can debug"

The third revision wrote "able to analyse a bug or crash independently" in as the hard bar for LV3 — the one rule in this system that looks least like a credential and most like ability.

The wiki leaves, the README takes over

After the "reorganize" and "Remove Home.md" commits, the repository moved from wiki form to a single README entrance, which it still uses today.

The senior interns category is published

The first reason given for creating it was "let glory fall on the blade's edge". At the same time, invisible output such as peer mentoring and cross-team help was brought into the assessment system.

TARSIER and its first LV4s

During the TARSIER operating system team period, Wang Yiqiao independently created and maintained Eulaceura, an openEuler RISC-V derivative distribution; Lu Yan (Robin) completed development board adaptation and had RobinOS named after him.

2023-06
The first big layoff, and the birth of Kubuds

PLCT Lab entered financial contraction. Co-founder Li Weiwei came from the simulator team, Wang Junqiang from TARSIER — where the teams went after disbanding became the starting point of a new company.

TARSIER disbands

A team that took LV4s and several team leads with it scattered within two months. The repository did not delete their names.

Non-PLCT content removed

A single commit, b7f25eb, pulled the repository back to a single main line, and the README and internship process were simplified together. This is a seam that "teams and organisations constantly forming and disbanding" left in the repository.

Project Jiachen's joint open-source internship programme is announced

A new project announced to member organisations: the smallest possible spend of money and management, in exchange for accelerating the RISC-V ecosystem work that matters to their own business, with 2,000+ internship places a year.

253 files deleted in one commit

Intern reports from 2021 and earlier were moved out wholesale (b9c43ed, 253 files changed), including a whole archives/ from the Zhongke Chongde period. A forwarding address was left in the README: git checkout 664048d.

The PLCT Lab brand is retired

A name used for six years left the stage. Recruitment and training did not stop, but continued under Project Jiachen.

The Five-Colour Stone Project starts

On the first day of the Bingwu Horse year, Project Jiachen announced the RISC-V Global Leadership Training Programme. Taking its meaning from Nüwa smelting five-colour stones to mend the sky, it works on a ten-year cycle, upgrading from "finding and screening talent" to "training talent systematically and over the long term".

open-internships.md now lists K181 openEuler robotics package maintenance, K182 openKylin embodied intelligence, K183 RT-Thread, K184 FlagOS RISC-V and K185 RISC-V robotics — all marked "part of the Five-Colour Stone Project".
